The Green Hills of Earth

This chapter details the time during David's estrangement from King Saul, when he learns of the death of Saul and his son Johnathan. The text ends with Davids's song lamenting the death and realizing that things will never be like they were before. There is truth in the saying "you can never go home again." But we know the rest of the story, and David laments what was, but moves on to what can be, and we know how it works out: the great nation that Israel become under King David's leadership. So, while we lament the way it was in our life's circle, what great things ahead might God be calling us to?
