This Side Toward the Enemy/ Facing The Right Direction

In this powerful moment from Exodus, Moses asks God to reveal His presence — not just to him, but to the people as they move forward in the wilderness. God responds not with distant instruction, but with intimate presence: "You’ll see my back, but not my face." This sermon draws a parallel between God leading His people and tactical faith. Like Moses, we are called to follow God's lead, not to expect Him to follow ours. When we see the back of God, we know we're headed in the right direction — into battle, into justice, into the world God is calling us to transform.
